It is painfully obvious that the U.S. economy is in a major recession with major economists freely admitting that "it will get worst before getting better". As a whole, NYC is expected to lose over 165,000 jobs [as per NYC Comptroller].
The question that we face is: who will assist our community in this major recession? Mike holds the answer. For those who have blindly laid their trust with the City and local governments, during better times, it was clear then and certainly now, that government cannot and will not solve our problems. Given the mounting crisis and its unprecedented nature, a new attitude is required. In preparation for this moment, Michael, over a decade ago, created the Federation of African, Caribbean, and American Organization, Inc. [Federation] in order to usher in a new approach focused on economic self-reliance.
The philosophy behind the Federation is very simple; Each One Support One, in which community members guarantee the support of businesses within the community, and in return local businesses provide an equitable discount. Both the members and the local businesses must be members in the Federation's network. The savings the members received is split between the members and the Federation. As such, the Federation will then utilize its portion of the savings to create much-needed services in the community. As other communities witness the development of this program, they will follow suit. Ultimately, the Federation will work side-by-side and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the community to better our lives, our schools, and our infrastructure. Michael Duncan wholeheartedly believes that we do not need an outside solution. The solution is us. The Federation of African, Caribbean, and American Organization, Inc is located at 225-12 Merrick Blvd in Laurelton, Queens at (718) 528-3751.
